Yes! Once your virtual debit card is established within the Mazoola app, it can be added as a payment method to either Apple Pay or Google Pay. To add to your Apple or Google Wallet, Tap on the black circle with 3 dots, then tap add to wallet. It is really easy. Your purchases are limited to the available balance on your virtual debit card.
In most cases, the PIN is provided to authorize cash back or withdrawals. Mazoola does not allow cash withdrawals or cash back on purchases. This safety mechanism is put in place for parents so that kids do not do an end-run around the parental controls. To secure these controls, Mazoola does not issue a PIN with the debit card.
The Mazoola can be used at the register. To use the Mazoola card at the register, when at the register and one is prompted to select “Credit or Debit”, users need to select “Credit”. Although Mazoola is a Debit card, it acts like a credit card at the register when not requesting cash back. However, funds are removed from your account immediately.
Mazoola is a virtual debit card only. We do not issue physical cards. Children are able to use their virtual debit cards for contactless payments wherever Apple Pay or Google Pay are accepted. The virtual card can be used for online shopping if you choose to allow your child to have access to the card details.
Mazoola partners with Evolve Bank & Trust through Synapse our backend software provider. Synapse’s API, and their relationship with financial institutions, enables us to offer banking services and products and FDIC insurance.
The Mazoola COPPA Compliant Digital Family Wallet is designed to help children learn about financial responsibility by providing them a forum to safely save and spend money online, within the parameters set by you, their parent!
You would begin by creating a parent account. Normally as part of that you would link to a bank account you would use to load funds into the account as needed. For our Beta users, we will be providing some money for you to give your kids, so you can skip this step if you like. You would then create a child account. Once you create a child account, you can tap on them to set limits and parameters that your child will need to meet regarding spending. You would then transfer money from “Your Wallet” to your child’s wallet so they will have some money to spend. The dollar value in the accounts of your child’s profile indicates the amount of money that you’ve made available to them.
Then, you give your child access to the account you created for them so that they are able to make transactions online using the special virtual card that gets created for their use and without having to exchange any of their personal information with merchants. In this way, the Mazoola Family Wallet and REGO Payment Architectures, Inc. are in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
So, it is basically a completely secure way for children to learn about how to handle their own finances online while keeping their privacy secure. It helps them to learn and feel empowered while you, as the parent, remain in charge.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act is a U.S. federal law designed to prohibit the collection and use of personal information about children by the operators of Internet services and Web sites. Passed by the U.S. Congress in 1998, the law took effect in April 2000. It is administered and enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
The Mazoola Digital Family Wallet App, by REGO Payment Architectures, Inc., is the only digital family app for kids that is in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) & GDPR (https://gdpr.eu/what-is-gdpr/). Our patented technology allows your child to shop online without ever having to provide their information.
